Choke Cherry Prunus virginianaPrunus virginiana can be tree-like under some circumstances, but tends to forms thickets and have many canes that go in all directions. Outstanding fall color, varied site adaptability, flower show and habitat building are just a couple of the characteristics that make this plant a winner in restoration work and in home/urban gardens. We use this plant in lightly shaded shrub borders to add a dimension that other shade tolerant plants can't give us, height. The birds love the berries and butterflies feed on the flowers and lay their eggs here making it interesting to watch for visitors.
