Truly a beautiful woodland flower, not to mention a huge plant that can reach 7 feet. The flowers are visited often by a wide range of pollinators. Locally this plant is more than rare, if not extirpate in the wild. Our plants come from second gerneration ... plants we grew many years ago from material mixed with three site from northern Illinois and Indiana. It loves being under oaks in rich woodland soils but will be perfectly happy in shade gardens with good soils in urban areas.
