Full Time

Responsibilities 

  • Manage Online Store, including regularly updating inventory offered, adding new products, and ensuring functionality of all aspects of the Ecommerce site.
  • Fulfill all online orders and document progress from placement to completion in online sales system. 
  • Manage all aspects of shipping process, including pulling orders, supervising packing, labeling packages and tracking all are delivered. 
  • Manage customer communication for online sales, including sending order confirmation and status reports, responding to general inquiries, complaints, and cancellation and refund requests. 
  • Analyze sales and track customer interest in order to collaborate with greenhouse manager and production team to optimize product offerings.  
  • Care for 1 gallon plant inventory, including pruning, fertilizing, weeding, pest control and watering. 
  • Manage a crew of 3-5 staff for packing and plant maintenance to ensure quality and efficiency of packaging and shipping of all online orders. 
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: 
    • Greenhouse propagation, container production and inventory management assistance. 
    • Implementing greenhouse and container watering schedule as requested.

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum 2 years management experience; experience in a retail setting a plus. 
  • Experience with inventory management. 
  • Desire to get your hands dirty in fast-paced work environment while learning about the beautiful native plants in our area. Some knowledge of plants preferred. 
  • Illinois Pesticide Applicator’s License, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, required. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel). 
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation. 
  • Availability to work some weekends and holidays.

Part Time & Seasonal

Primary responsibilities will be caring for crops, harvesting trees, and loading customer orders.

Positions last from March 1st to the end of November.  Some positions will be extended dependent on workload and order volumes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Desire to get your hands dirty in a fast-paced work environment while learning about the beautiful native plants in our area.
  • A love for plants! No formal training, education or experience in horticulture is necessary.
  • Ability to lift and walk with while carrying, up to 50 pounds, occasionally 75-100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand for several hours at a time while working in the field; ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Availability of at least 3 days a week, Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm. 5 days a week preferred.

Bonus qualifications:

  • Experience working on a small farm or nursery a plus.
  • Experience driving farm equipment, such as tractors or skidsteers.
