DARK MODE

February is Black History Month and we wanted to put together a list of 5 local and national black voices that we think you should check out!

Blacks in Green

Since 2007, Blacks in Green (BIG), has been a national network for environmental justice + economic development with Chicago roots. Creators of the “Sustainable Square Mile” and “ Grannynomics”, BIG is creating whole-system solutions and building economies in energy, horticulture, housing, tourism, and waste. Be sure to check out all their initiatives (including Black Water Council), gardens, and pilot Sustainable Square Mile Village in West Woodlawn, Chicago via their website!

Black People Outside

After noticing that they were often the only black people on the trails they were exploring, Kameron Stanton and Chevon Linear created their Instagram @blk.people.outside . Fast forward to today and their website now boasts lists and information of Chicagoland trails, day trips near Chicago, blogs sharing tips and their experiences in National Parks they’ve explored , and so much more!
