Commonly called “pussy toes” because the flowers have the look of the little toe of kittens. It is one of the main hosts of the American Painted Lady butterfly. In fact, the caterpillars for this little butterfly show up every year in our greenhouses. The ... silvery green leaves are held close to the ground, and the flowers are held on stalks 10 to 14 inches above that. An interesting thing about this plant is that it seems to be able to keep larger plants at bay. They don’t seem to want to grow near it!
